Waxahachie started the season just outside the Top 30 but have worked their way up the charts with impressive wins over #150 in 6A Garland Lakeview Centennial 46-34, 40-37 win over #8 5A Dallas Highland Park and a 50-20 win over #28 Ennis.
Waxahachie Head Coach Jon Kitna who was a Head Coach in the state of Washington and played for the Dallas Cowboys went 6-4 in his first season in Texas last year. He looks to be getting the Indians ready for a long playoff run. The rest of the regular season will not be easy though. District 10-5A is one of the toughest in the state. The Indians still have to go through #35 Mansfield Legacy, #32 Mansfield Timberview, #10 Lancaster and #11 Mansfield Lake Ridge.
The Indians rely on two Division I recruits. Kenedy Snell, a TCU commit is the teams 2nd leading rusher and 2nd leading receiver. Jalen Reagor, an Oklahoma commit is the teams leading receiver. At the end of week 3, Reagor was #21 in receiving yards in the state. The defense is led by Keontrey Jackson (19 tackles), Caleb High (18 tackles) and Sophomore Demani Richardson (16 tackles, 2 INTs).
