Michael Everett wins 2016 Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year
Odem Quarterback, Michael Everett led the high scoring Owls to the Regionals this past season. He finished the season with the 4th most passing yards in the state. His season numbers were 331 completions on 496 passes for 4,362 yards and 58 touchdowns.
Everett was also named the Associated Press Offensive Player Of The Year and was 2nd Team Texas Sports Writers Association All-State. He finishes his career with 822 completions on 1,238 attempts for 12,631 yards and 159 touchdowns.
The 1st and 2nd runners-up for the 2016 award were:
- 1st Runner Up Jeremiah Crawford - - QB Mineola won state championship TSWA POY Honorable Mention AP
- 2nd Runner Up (tied) Trey Sterling - RB Sunnyvale 1st Team TSWA & AP 2,081 yards rushing #17 in state
- 2nd Runner Up (tied) Sicory Smith - WR Cameron Yoe 1st Team TSWA & AP 1,339 yards receiving #22 in state
