Texas High School Football Week 2, 2017
Week Two of the 2017 Texas high school football season is complete.
We had a ton of interesting tidbits from week two:
- There were 13 games in our Top 20/10 rankings cancelled due to Harvey
- Tyler John Tyler -- Overcame a slow start to beat a very good Ennis team. Tyler only ran 15 plays in the first half. They finished with only 253 yards of total offense after going over 650 yards in week 1.
- Frisco Lone Star got a big win over Mansfield Timberview. They take on #52 Lucas Lovejoy this week but should come out with a win to set them up at 3-0 going into their big matchup against #7 Denton Ryan.
- Geronimo Navarro continues to impress as they beat Marion this week. We all thought they would fall to Giddings in week 1 after losing so much to graduation. This team is showing that they should remain at the top of the rankings.
- Lexington -- had a big win this week and will face #19 3A DI Rockdale this week. They look to be set for a big season not only because they are good but because their 10 opponents in regular season have a 5-14 record right now.
- Refugio scored a last minute touchdown to spoil the comeback attempt by Goliad. Refugio is our pre-season pick to win it all in 2A Division I
- Dallas Jesuit's EJ Smith (son of Dallas Cowboy Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith) had 87 receiving yards, 52 rushing yards and four scores in a 41-36 loss to DeSoto
