Dallas Highland Park Head Coach Randy Allen retired after coaching since 1973. Allen led the Dallas Highland Park Scots to back to back state championships over the past 2 years and is #4 on the all-time list for coaching wins.
Coach Allen began his head coaching career at Ballinger and went 44-15-2 from 1981-1985. From there he went to Brownwood going 43-13-2 from 1986-1990. A trip to Abilene Cooper was next where he went 66-31-2 from 1991-1998. Finally he wet to Dallas Highland Park where he went 223-28-0 from 1999-2017.
He ended his career with a coaching record of 376-87-6. That puts in in 4th place behind other coaching legends Phil Danaher, G.A. Moore and Gordon Wood.
When Allen was in High School, he was a tailback at Abilene Cooper when they made it to the state championship game. He played college football at Southern Methodist University.
