Southlake Carroll Hires Dodge

Riley Dodge Returns Home

Southlake Carroll has hired one of their own. Riley Dodge a graduate of Southlake has been named the new head coach of the Dragons.  The 29 year old Dodge replaces Hal Wasson who had been the Southlake head coach for the past 11 years going 121-25 during that time.

Wasson took over the head coaching job when Todd Dodge (Riley’s dad) left to take over at the University of North Texas. Coach Wasson has an All-Time Coaching record of 239-111-3 which puts him #39 on the all-time list for coaching wins.

Todd Dodge is currently the Head Coach at Austin Westlake. He was the Head Coach at Southlake during Riley’s Junior season. They won the state championship that year over Austin Westlake. For the season, Riley threw for 4,184 yards and 54 touchdowns and he had 1,119 yards and 13 scores rushing.

The Austin Westlake connection doesn't end there however. It was Riley's poise under pressure in a state championship game against Austin Westlake that he will likely never live down. Watch as Riley steps to the line, looks over to the sideline, projectile vomits and then unshaken, tosses the go-ahead touchdown pass in the 2006 State Championship game!

Riley’s head coach during his senior season was Wasson. They made it to the Regionals with Riley throwing for 3,445 yards and 39 touchdowns. After high school, Riley went to North Texas to play where his dad was the head coach. In 2010, he transferred to McNeese State.

Last year, Riley was the Offensive Coordinator at Justin Northwest. Before that he had been an assistant at Flower Mound Marcus, the University of Texas and Texas A&M. This will be his first head coaching job.
