Friday Night Legends is a football board game that uses actual team statistics, play calling and some luck to determine the outcome - kind of like real life! In this series, we will take some of these great teams we have compiled and give you a write-up of how the two played using Friday Night Legends.

In this game, we pitted 2010 Kerrville Tivy against the 2011 Aledo squad. Kerrville Tivy went 10-2 in 2010 with their two losses coming to Austin Lake Travis who was led by QB Michael Brewer (Texas Tech and Virginia Tech). Tivy was led by superstar Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel (3,559 yards passing 44 TDs 5 INTs 1,695 yards rushing). Tivy averaged 55.17 points per game and gave up an average of 25 points per game.

Aledo won the Class 4A Division II championship with a 14-2 record. They were led by University of Texas RB Johnathan Gray (3,886 yards rushing 65 touchdowns). Aledo averaged 55.31 points while giving up 22.13. The offenses in this one are both great.

Tivy's high flying passing game faces off against Aledo's ground and pound running game. Lets see what happened!!

1st Quarter

Aledo opened the game with a 41 yard pass completion on the first play of the game and it looked like the fireworks were going to be much more than Tivy's passing. Five plays later, the Bearcats ran it in from 8 yards out to take a 7-0 lead with 9:50 left in the first quarter. With Kerrville facing a 3rd and 14 at their own 10, the Aledo defense had a mix-up in the secondary resulting in a 37 yard pass play. Six plays later, Kerrville scored on a 1 yard pass. Kerrville notched 73 passing yards on the drive. The extra point tied the game up at 7.

Aledo went to their running game, gaining all 66 yards of the next drive on the ground and scored from 6 yards out to take a 14-7 lead with 2:50 left in the 1st. Kerrville again used the pass to drive down the field. They scored on a 7 yard run but it is called back because of a penalty. On the next play Kerrville completed a 22 yard pass for a score to bring the score to 14 all with 30 seconds left in the quarter. Aledo got 2 runs totaling 50 yards to end the 1st quarter at the Kerrville 16 yard line.

2nd Quarter

Aledo's first play of the 2nd quarter was a 16 yard scoring pass to take the lead 21-14. Kerrville marched right back on a six-play, 73 yard drive and scored a touchdown. They missed the extra point though and Aledo still led 21-20. Aledo went on a 90 yard scoring drive and they get a touchdown but they also missed an extra point making the score is now 27-20 Aledo with 6:30 left until half. Kerrville responded by converting on three 3rd down plays before capping off the drive with a passing touchdown to make the score 27 all with 3:00 until the break. Aledo moved the ball down the field with a good mix of run/pass and scored a touchdown with 40 seconds left to take a 34-27 lead. Kerrville made it into Aledo territory before the clock ran out in the half but could not score.

There were no defensive stops in the first half

3rd Quarter

Kerrville opened the 2nd half with a 12-play drive converting two 3rd downs on the way to tie the score at 34. Aledo put together another great drive and scored on a 3 yard run to take the lead again 41-34. Kerrville again converted several 3rd down plays including a 3rd and 16 where they threw an incomplete pass but Aledo was offsides. On the next play, Kerrville completed a 15 yard pass for the first down on the 3rd and 11 try. Kerrville had to settle for a 35 yard field goal as they had a holding penalty and twoo incomplete passes to force a kick. This brought the score to 41-37 with 2:00 let in the 3rd quarter. Aledo had the ball at the Kerrville 15 as the 3rd quarter ended.

4th Quarter

Aledo scored on a 4 yard pass but was called for holding. They settled for a 31 yard field goal to extend their lead to 44-37. Kerrville used a strong running game to score a touchdown with 8:30 left in the game to tie it all up at 44 - the fifth time they fought back for a tie in this game. The Antlers were just not willing to give up.

Three straight incomplete passes and Aledo was forced to punt for the first time in the game by either team. It only took Kerrville two pass plays to overcome a clipping penalty and score. Kerrville led for the first time in the game 51-44 with 6:50 left in the game. Aledo could not overcome a clipping penalty of their own and had to punt from midfield with 4:00 left in the game. Kerrville was able to convert on a 3rd and 7 at their own 23 with 3 minutes left. They went on to score with 1:40 left in the game to take a 58-44 lead. Aledo marched down the field but was unable to score and Tivy held on for the 58-44 win.

This game featured 1,295 total yards of offense. Tivy passed for 516 yards and Aledo ran for 375 yards.

Tivy finished with 14 Big Plays (all on offense), 28 carries for 175 yards, 31 of 42 passing for 516 yards 0 turnovers and 7 penalties.

Aledo finished with 9 Big Plays (4 on offense and 5 on defense), 41 carries for 375 yards, 19 of 33 passing for 229 yards 0 turnovers and 6 penalties.
