Texas Tech landed a major recruiting victory on July 2, 2025, as Frisco Panther Creek safety Donovan Webb announced his commitment to the Red Raiders, choosing them over national powerhouses like Michigan, Notre Dame, and Kansas State.
Webb, a 6-foot, 185-pound four-star prospect, is ranked the No. 32 safety nationally and No. 46 overall in Texas by 247Sports. His junior season was electric. He totaled 120 tackles, 5 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 9 pass breakups, and 2 punt-return touchdowns.
Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire celebrated the news on social media, posting:
“Mood!!!!! Lets goooooooooooo #WreckEm”
Webb becomes the 16th commitment in Texas Tech’s 2026 class and one of the highest-rated. His versatility, defensive instincts, and playmaking on special teams make him a cornerstone pickup for defensive coordinator Shiel Wood.
With this commitment, Texas Tech continues to build momentum and proves it can compete with the nation's elite for top-tier in-state talent.
