2026 El Campo Ricebirds Football season
Heading into the 2026 season, El Campo Ricebirds head coach Travis Reeve is optimistic about the team's prospects, returning seven offensive and six defensive starters among approximately 24 lettermen. The team has successfully transitioned to a flexible "multiple" offensive system over the past four years, a style the current seniors have practiced since their freshman year. Beyond tactical shifts, Reeve emphasizes building a program culture rooted in genuine trust and relationships rather than just slogans. The upcoming season brings structural changes due to realignment, moving the team back to Region 3 into a district with traditional local rivals like Bay City and Navasota, while also presenting a challenging playoff path against teams like Stephenville. El Campo continues to embrace its storied traditions, opening the season with its 90-year rivalry against Wharton and preparing for the historic 120-year-old "brotherly" rivalry with Bay City.
