Coaching Changes — Mesquite Poteet

Mesquite Poteet has hired Randy Jackson to replace Charles Hesse who was reassigned after last season. The Pirates have gone 2-18 over the last 2 seasons by far the worst record in school history.

Hesse had been Poteet's head coach since 2002 and went 32-49 in eight seasons at Poteet. Before coming to Poteet, coach Hesse went 58-29 over eight seasons with Saginaw Boswell. His all-time coaching record is 138-134-1.

Jackson comes over from 2A Lone Oak where he has led the Buffaloes to a 50-20 record over the last six years. His all-time coaching record is 85-36. He went 9-4 in DeKalb (2002), 5-7 in Mason (2001), and 21-5 in two-years at Paducah. His teams have won at least one playoff game in nine of his ten years. He also served as an assistant coach at West Mesquite and Greenville.

Poteet will be placed in the newly the realigned District 15-4A. Other member of the district are West Mesquite, Ennis, Red Oak, Terrell, Forney, Corsicana, Waxahachie and Lancaster.
