La Marque Picks Mike Jackson To Show Them The Way Back To The Championship Game

2011 Coaching Change: La Marque Cougars

Old Head Coach: Darrell Jordan — Leaving for 4A Terrell. He led the Cougars to a 18-16-0 record over the last three seasons. Last season La Marque was the Class 4A Division II runnerup. His other head coaching position was at Dallas Kimball from 2000-2007 where he led the Knights to a 52-29-0 record over 7 seasons. He was also and assistant at Lufkin for 8 years El Paso Socorro for 2 years from 1993-1994.

New Head Coach: Mike Jackson -- From 5A Houston Chavez where he led the Lobos to a 28-24-0 record over the last five seasons. Coach Jackson has an all-time coaching record of 118-76-2.

Team News: The Cougars ended a 2 year losing streak in 2010 which was their first losing seasons in 19 years. Their rivalry games are some of the best in the state. They have the "Battle by the Bay" vs. Texas City 52 meetings Texas City has now won 4 in a row. The "Clash Of The Causeway" vs. Galveston Ball. They are also 1-1 all-time vs. Pearland Dawson and 9-4 vs. Friendswood since 1998....Friendswood has won the last 3 in a row.
