Shiner vs Winters – Battle of the 1A D1 Bracket Busters

Shiner (7-5) vs. Winters (9-3), 6 p.m. Saturday, Marble Falls
The Shiner Comanches and Winters Blizzards were both supposed to be out of the playoffs already. Both teams had to get a win in the first round and then face a district winner in the second round. Both teams faced (and lost to) some pretty strong teams in the regular season. It would "fit the script" if both of them were gone by this time. That is the script from sportswriters, NOT the script put together by the Blizzards and Comanches.
Shiner lost to five of their first seven opponents (Vanderbilt Industrial, Schulenburg, Weimar, Geronimo Navarro & Ganado.) Winters dropped games against Coleman, Albany and Mason. We are not talking scrubs here. They have knocked heads are are battle tested.
In the playoffs, Shiner is playing lights out - outscoring opponents 70-6 (Kenedy 35-6 & Brackettville 35-0.) Winters has a similar story in the playoffs with wins over Center Point (40-14) and Ben Bolt (46-13.)
The winner will play the winner of Mason/Ganado and could offer a chance for payback if Mason plays Winters or Ganado takes on Shiner. You gotta love it!!
