Corsicana is looking like the place to be this weekend for football playoff action if you can't make it to Texas Stadium or the Alamo Dome. Tiger Stadium will hold a 1A, a 3A and two 4A playoff games this weekend.
Why is Corsicana attracting games that would normally be held in Waco? Location, cost and a top-flight facility are all key factors.
The field is built in a bowl so the wind is usually not a factor. The administrators have made it very cost effective and it is a great meeting point for East Texas, Dallas and Waco schools.
This weeks games open up with a bang when #18 Highland Park (11-1) takes on #25 Hewitt Midway (11-1) at 2 p.m. Friday. This game will bring in a standing room only crowd. Friday night has a 3A Regional matchup. 10th Ranked Carthage (10-2) will take on #15 Rockdale (9-2).
Saturday at 2 p.m. is a matchup of two Top 10 4A teams. Sixth ranked Longview will play #3 Dallas Carter. These are football powerhouses that won multiple playoff games in 5A last year. Saturday night concludes with a 1A Quarterfinal matchup between #25 Alto and #8 Mart.
Playoff games will be played at Tiger Stadium this weekend:

Division 1 - Alto (8-3) vs. Mart (10-2), 7:30 p.m. Saturday
3A Regional
Division 2 - Carthage (10-2) vs. Rockdale (9-2), 8 p.m. Friday
