Cypress Creek State Qualifying Tournament Pools
-
Updated: May 27, 2009
Here are the pools, breakdowns and of course my predictions for the Cypress Creek State Qualifying Tournament to be held this weekend.
Pool A: Cypress Ranch, Cypress Creek, Cypress Springs, Cypress Fairbanks
Cypress Creek has gone 4-5 in SQT play this year and has lost in the Semis at Cypress Falls & Texans Sunday. They have good talent in QB Ross Zapalac and RB/WR Brent Mitcham. Cypress Springs has gone 1-2 this year while Cypress Fairbanks has a 4-1 mark. Cy-Fair has already qualified for the state tournament being the runner up at the Cypress Falls SQT. They also have a win over pool opponent Cypress Springs 33-20. They will be led by Rice committ Tevin Champagne. Cypress Ranch will round out the pool and will try to compete with these other Cypress schools.
Mike's Pick: Cypress Creek (This would make their 3rd consecutive time to win pool play at an SQT this year)
Pool B: Klein, Jersey Village, Cypress Falls, Houston 2nd Baptist
Klein has already qualified as they went an impressive 5-0 winning the Texans Sunday SQT. They have a win over pool opponent Cypress Falls 28-24. They will be led by QB Jamie Peebles. Jersey Village has a 1-1 record this year and will have a good targe in TE Ronell Lavigne. Cypress Falls has gone 3-3 in two SQT's this year making it to their Semifinal game at Cypress Fall. Houston 2nd Baptist is the other team in the pool. They went 2-2 in a Division II SQT last week at Anahuac.
Mike's Pick: Cypress Falls
Pool C: Cypress Woods, Houston Stratford, Spring, Langham Creek
Langham Creek has already qualified for the state tournament winning the Cypress Falls SQT. They have gone an impressive 7-1 this year with wins over pool opponents Spring 41-33 and Cypress Woods 41-25. QB Will Bryant will lead them along with Houston committ LB Efrem Oliphant. Cypress Woods has a 2-4 SQT record this year and will be led by WR Jonathan Cross. Houston Stratford has gone 4-2 this year just like Spring has. Spring has a win over pool opponent Cypress Woods 42-28. They are also looking for a little luck. They had to play and lost to the eventual tournament champion in pool play in both SQT's. (Langham Creek and Klein)
Mike's Pick: Spring
Pool D: A&M Consolidated, Tomball, Klein Forest, The Woodlands
Tomball has already qualified being the runner up at the Texans Sunday SQT. They have an overall 5-3 record and will be led by All-State WR Jordan Leslie. Leslie is worth the price of admission. A&M Consolidated comes in with a 2-1 record. Klein Forest is 1-2 and will be led by Rice committ LB Cameron Nwosu. The Woodlands went 0-3 last week and look to rebound.
Mike's Pick: A&M Consolidated
