Wink has hired Andy Hrncir as their next athletic director and head coach. Hrncir will replace Max McGehee who was reassigned at the end of last season.
McGehee was reassigned after missing the playoffs the last two seasons with back to back 5-5 seasons. The Wildcats have gone 23-19 over the last 4 seasons. McGehee compiled a 46-29 overall record at Wink with four playoff berths in seven seasons. His all-time coaching record is 84-85-1.
Hrncir comes to Wink after being the athletic director and head coach at Class 4A Kingsville King. He coached the Brahmas to a 12-18 record during his three seasons there. Before Kingsville, Hrncir served as an assistant coach at LaPorte, Houston St. Thomas and Huffman Hargrave.
The Wildcats are one of the smallest schools in the state and will play in District 5-1A Division II for the next two seasons. Other schools in the district are Iraan, Marfa, McCamey and Van Horn.
