Preseason All-Greater Houston HS Football Team

NFL Hall of Famer Kenny Houston will be honored at the Touchdown Club of Houston’s Touchdowner of the Year Dinner. The gala is at 7 p.m., Wed., Aug. 11, at the JW Marriott, 5150 Westheimer.

Houston was an All-America at Prairie View A&M, and was All-Pro with the Houston Oilers and the Washington Redskins.

The Touchdowner Award has been given annually since 1966 by the Touchdown Club for extraordinary contributions and outstanding achievements reflecting honor and sportsmanship to football over a lengthy period of time. Past winners include Darrell Royal, R.C. Slocum, Kyle Rote, Ken Hatfield, John David Crow, Sammy Baugh, Jerry LeVias, Thurman Thomas, Bill Yeoman, Mack Brown, Jess Neely, Emory Bellard, Grant Teaff, Spike Dykes, Tom Landry, Harry Fouke, Bobby Lane, Jack Pardee and Bud Adams.

The event also will include the annual Preseason All-Greater Houston High School Football Team.

Tickets are $45 each. Tables are $450 (regular table), $500 (bronze table), $1,000 (silver table), $1,500 (gold table) and $5,000 (platinum table). All tables are 10 seats each. Premium table sponsors will get their names in the event’s paper program. You do not have to be a member of the TD Club to attend.

Houston has chosen the TD Club’s Weight Room Refurbishing Project as the beneficiary of the dinner. The TD Club has put about $160,000 in weights and weight equipment into 32 Greater Houston high schools in the past eight years.
