Dayton’s Juan Carranco Breaks All-Time State Record
-
Updated: November 26, 2011
Juan Carranco connected on a 26 yard field goal with 5:20 left in the game to break the all-time state record with his 21st field goal on the season. Coming into the game he was tied with Hunter Lawrence from Boerne who kicked 20 back in 2004. Carranco missed kicks of 46 and 40 during the game but it was not because they were not long enough. They were just a little to the side. He could have made them from 60 yards.
Dayton lost the game to Manvel 49-10. For the record, Dayton's quarterback Andres Herrera completed 11 of 18 passes for 83 yards on the night. For the season, he finishes with 234 completions on 342 passes for 2,889 yards and 22 touchdowns. For his career, Carranco now has 168 extra points and 39 field goals. He is a junior so he will be a back next year to try for those career records.
