Spring DeKaney Wins Championship In Their First Year Of The Playoffs

The Spring DeKaney Wildcats won their first ever state championship in this against the Knights of Cibolo Steele.  DeKaney was actually appearing in their first ever playoffs this year.  They began varsity play in 2008.   Steele played in their 2nd consecutive state championship game having won last year.  They began varstiy play in 2006.

With the loss Steele's 28 game winning streak was halted.  Dekaney running back Trey Williams was the offensive player of the game.  He carried the ball 25 times for 197 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.  He also had a 51 yard punt return.  The defensive player of the game was Jarrett Irving who had 2 interceptions.

For the record, Spring Dekaney running back Trey Williams carried the ball 427 times for 3,832 yards and 48 touchdowns for the season.  For his career, he finished with 915 carries for 8,044 yards, 87 touchdowns and 522 points.
