Notes:
* Coach Shipley has gone 32-9 in his 3 seasons...they went 20-25 the previous 4 years before his arrival

  • Mike Says: The Lions made it to the Regionals for the 3rd consecutive year last year. This year they will feature a solid offensive line, an all-state linebacker on defense with Monsen and one of the states best kickers in McCrane. Look for them to go 7-3 or 6-4 in the regular season. The game against Liberty Hill will probably be for the district championship. Looks like another trip to the Regionals.
  • Chris Says: Bob Shipley coming to Brownwood 3 years ago was a perfect match - a great coach and a great program.  The result has been as expected - some serious winning.   There has been a lot of talk about Cody Skains moving in and being a big-time college prospect, but the Lions have a lot more going for them.  Kevin Hobbs and Caleb Willbourn will also add to the protection of Clint Taylor as he takes over at the QB spot.  He will be under the tutelage of new Quarterbacks Coach, Sam Harrell.  You'll remember him as the former head coach at Ennis where he coached his son, Graham Harrell (Green Bay Packers, Texas Tech.)   Sam is a graduate of Brownwood, where he played quarterback for the great Gordon Wood.
