Waskom Wildcats (14-0) vs. Refugio Bobcats (13-1)
These two teams are alike when you look at their results but differnet in many ways. LSG's Mike Wright and Zach Shelton will be at the game doing a podcast while at the game.
How are they alike?
Wildcats average 52.3 points per game and give up 18.7
Bobcats average 56.4 points per game and give up 18.0
How are they different?
The schools are 390 miles away from each other!! Waskom lies about 20 miles east of Marshall on U.S. Route 80 just to the east is Shreveport, Louisiana. The population is around 2,100. Refugio is on Hwy 77 on your way to corpus Christi and has a population was 2,900.

The Wildcats are playing in its first ever semifinal game. They feature a strong running game led by RBs Kevin Johnson and Junebug Johnson (they have 4 1,000 yard rushers)
The Bobcats have played in 5 state chamionship games including winning the Class 2A DII crown in 2011. They feature a high powered passing attack led by QB Travis Quintanilla who has passed for more yards and thrown for more touchdowns than anyone in Texas High school football history.
On the webite Refugio has been tagged in one of our articles 82 times.....Waskom 4.
who Wins?
Who can stop who in this one? Can The Wildcats stop the Bobcats passing attack? No one can....see the comments above about more passing yards and touchdowns than anyone in history. Can the Bobcats stop the Wildcats rushing attack? No way...they gave up over 600 rushing yards against Rogers 2 weeks ago.
Mike Says: The rest of the media will be crying becuase this game is going to take forever to finish. I am always looking for that wild 4 OT thriller and this might be the one. I like this game, it has our pre-season favorite playing against what most would say is a big underdog. I like to be right on predictions but I like underdogs too. I say Refugio wins it 64-63.
Zach Says: As much as I would like to a see a story-book finish to Quintanilla's awesome career, the train stops here. The Wildcats have the perfect formula for slowing him down: they play great defense and their rushing attack will keep the ball out of his hands. Most importantly, the Wildcats sport a dominant, veteran defensive line that will give an inexperienced Bobcat group a lot of trouble. There is only so much Quintanilla can do with the Wildcats running clock and resting its talented linemen. Unless the Bobcats can figure out a way to stop that awesome Waskom rushing attack, they're in danger of losing big. Wildcats 56-42.
See Ya'll At The Game!!
