Marble Falls 62, Boerne Champion 55
The teams combined for over 1,300 yards passing in the game. Marble Falls quarterback Mike Richardson set a state record by passing for 725 yards in the game passing the record set by Wichita Falls Dylan Sheffield last year when he threw for 683 yards. Boerne Champion quarterback Kyle Poeske also had a great night passing going for 595 yards.
Amarillo 21, Wolfforth Frenship 12
The Sandies of Amarillo High were able to hold Top 10 Frenship to 7 first downs in the game. Frenship RB D’Maujeric Tucker was able to run for 229 yards on the night but was held to 1 TD. Amarillo is in district 3-4A and Frenship is in 4-4A. Both teams will most likely go Division I so this could have been a Bi-District round preview.
Waxahachie 36, Corsicana 12
The Tigers from Corsicana led this one 12-7 right before half but Waxahachie dominated from the on. This was the 8th victory in the last 9 games for Waxahachie. They now lead this series 14-8 since 1994 but are 1-2 in the playoffs.
Alvarado 28, China Spring 14
The Alvarado defense held as China Spring was inside the Alvarado 30 yard line twice in the 4th quarter and both times were unable to score. Alvarado remained unbeaten with a 4-0 record as they rushed for 323 yards on the night. Alvarado Head Coach Jeff Dixon became the all-time wins leader at Alvarado during their victory.
San Diego 65, Santa Maria 7
San Diego RB Luis Lopez got his 4th consecutive 200 yard rushing game of the year with 207 yards on only 14 carries scoring 5 touchdowns. For the season, he now has 72 carries for 928 yards and 15 touchdowns for an impressive 12.89 yards per carry average.
San Antonio Wagner 27, San Antonio Churchill 21
Churchill led this one 14-0 going into the 4th quarter. After that, this became a wild game that I am sure will be considered for an LSG Game Of The Year. Wagner came roaring back behind 3 touchdown passes from Bryant-Mckinnies to make it 21-20 Churchill. The Thunderbirds from Wagner had a chance to win it with 2:39 remaining in the game but missed a field goal. Wagner was out of timeouts and Churchill had the ball and all looked to be over. Churchill turned the ball over though on a fumble to give Wagner new life. 4 plays later they lined up for another field goal from the 18 but the snap was bad but the holder was able to pick up the ball and get the first down. Two plays later Bryant-McKinnie threw his 4th touchdown of the quarter for the win with only 6 seconds left.
A&M Consolidated 30, Austin Lake Travis 28
The Tigers from A&M Consolidated were the first team to defeat Lake Travis since September of 2010. With the loss, the Cavaliers 25 game winning streak has come to an end. Consolidated led this one 23-14 at half and 30-21 midway through the 4th quarter. The Cavaliers scored a touchdown with 6:30 remaining to make it 30-28. After stopping the Tigers, the Cavaliers drove to the Tiger 20 yard line before fumbling for the 3rd time of the night. The Cavaliers had one more shot but turned the ball over on downs before the Tigers were finally able to run the clock out. A&M Consolidated won their 450th all-time game during their victory.
Cibolo Steele 35, Austin Westlake 10
The Knights from Cibolo Steele scored 28 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter to get the big win. Led by superstar running back Justin Stockton (106 yards) the Knights rushed for 345 yards on the night.
Cedar Park 12, Round Rock Westwood 9
The Cedar Park defense held Westwood to 35 yards rushing on the night to win a defensive battle. Their final stop came at their own 11 yard line with 2:28 left in the game.
Dayton 45, Crosby 21
The Broncos of Dayton jumped out to a 35-13 halfime lead to win this years edition of the Hwy 90 Showdown. The Broncos finished the night with 438 total yards while Crosby put up 481. Dayton owns this series 13-2 since 1998 including 2 playoff victories in 2006 & 2007 by a combined score of 84-7. Broncos all-state kicker Juan Carranco kicked 6 extra points and 1 field goal on the night. For his career he now has 185 extra points and 41 field goals. With his 41 field goals, he is now tied for 3rd place all-time for career field goals. The 185 extra points moves him into 6th place all-time for extra points made in a career.
West Orange-Stark 17, Jasper 7
The Mustangs from West Orange-Stark held the Jasper offense to 222 total yards while racking up 482 yards themselves to win this rivalry game. West Orange-Stark now leads this All-Time series 20-6.
Smithson Valley 49, San Antonio Madison 24
The Rangers from Smithson Valley won in convincing fashion to beat San Antonio Madison in an LSG Game Of The Week. Ranger WR Taylor West scored touchdowns on a kickoff return, threw for one, ran for one and caught another. The Ranger defense held the Madison running game to only 105 yards.
Alief Taylor 8, Angleton 7
The Lions from Alief Taylor scored a touchdown with 19 seconds remaining to make the score 7-6 Angleton. Taylor head coach J.D. Jordan went for two. The pass for attempt fell incomplete but Angleton was flagged for pass interference. The Lions were then able to run it in for the lead and the victory. Taylor RB Trevorris Johnson finished the night with 211 yards on 27 carries.
Hallettsville 33,Boling 13
This game was tied at 13 all in the 3rd quarter. The Brahmas from Hallettsville went on to score the games final 20 points and remain undefeated at 4-0 for the first time since 2004.
Kilgore 38, Mount Pleasant 6
The Ragin’ Red from Kilgore forced 9 Mount Pleasant turnovers to remain undefeated at 3-0.
Leander 20, Pflugerville 0
The continued its great defensive play with another shutout. The Lions from Leander have only given up 14 points through 4 games this season including 2 shutouts. In this game, they limited the Panthers from Pflugerville to 166 total yards that included a total of 0 yards in the second half.
Cisco 34, Godley 33
Godley led this one 27-20 at halftime. The Loboes from Cisco scored 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter to take a 34-27 lead with 4:34 left. Godley then responded with an 11 play drive, scoring a touchdown with 42 seconds left in the game. Godley coach Randy Brawner went for two but they were not able to convert and where not able to recover their onside kick attempt. Cisco Head Coach Brent West celebrated his 150th game at Cisco during the win.
Longview 45, Lufkin 14
The Lobos from Longview used a strong running game and a dominant defense to beat Lufkin in an LSG Game Of The Week. Longview RB Tory White finished the night with 232 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. The Lobo defense held Lufkin to 236 yards. This was Longview's first win at Abe Martin Stadium since 1997. Lufkin still leads this all time series 35-34-4 including 4-3 in the playoffs.
Abilene 44, Odessa Permian 14
Abilene WR Keevan Lucas finished the night with 12 catches for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Eagles from Abilene to a big district victory. Abilene remains undefeated with a 4-0 record. Lucas now has 34 receptions for 664 yards and 3 touchdowns on the season.
Gregory-Portland 42, Rockport-Fulton 21
The Wildcats from Gregory-Portland won their 12th in a row over Rockport-Fulton to remain undefeated at 4-0. G-P superstar running back Devin Bisby ran for 121 yards on 16 carries for 2 touchdowns during the win. Gregory-Portland now leads this series 16-3 since 1994. The bad news for Gregory-Portland was that their starting QB Brandon Gonzales went down with an injury.
Allen 42, Lewisville Hebron 17
The Eagles from Allen remained undefeated at 4-0 by scoring on their first three possessions to get a big victory in an LSG Game Of The Week.
Troup 33, Arp 13
Troup ran 309 yards on the night to end a 3 game losing streak to Arp. Arp won last years contest 48-14.
Rogers 84, Mart 58
Their combined 142 points puts them for 4th place all-time for most points scored by 2 teams in a game. Rogers did not attempts a pass in this game. Rogers running backs Brody Malovets rushed for 368 yards and Carson Skala ran for 279. Mart still leads this series 6-3 Since 1994.
Navasota 45, Lexington 12
Top 5 Class 3A Navasota rolled to a big victory over Top 5 Class 2A Divsiion II Lexington in an LSG Game Of The Week. The Rattlers from Navasota had 4 touchdowns called back because of penalties. Navasota QB Kadarius Baker completed 15 of 28 passes for 407 yards and 4 touchdowns. For the season, he is now 75 of 116 for 1,447 yards and 17 touchdowns. Navasota WR Austin Collins had 5 catches for 98 yards and 1 touchdown. For the season, he is now 24 for 555 yards and 7 touchdowns. Navasota WR Solomon McGinty caught 8 passes for 277 yards and 2 scores during their win over Lexington. The 277 yards puts him in 36th place all-time for receiving yards in a a game.
Stephenville 43, Waco La Vega 22
Stephenville QB passed for 2 touchdowns and ran for 2 more at the Yellow Jackets won in an LSG Game Of The Week.
Tyler John Tyler 35, Mesquite Horn 30
The Jaguars from Mesquite Horn took the lead 24-21 with 6:52 left in the game. Tyler turned things around with 2 quick scores to go up 35-24. Horn had one last chance after scoring with 27 seconds left but they did not recover their onside kick attempt. Tyler John Tyler won their 650th all-time game during their win.
DeSoto 48, Cedar Hill 35
DeSoto quarterback Desmon White passed for 339 yards as the Eagles rolled up almost 500 yards of offense in this years playing of the "Battle of Belt Line". DeSoto now leads this series 9-5 since 1996 including a playoff loss.
Bremond 28, Burton 14
The Tigers from Bremond improved to 4-0 with a big win over TOP 5 Class 1A DII Burton.
Lindsay 14, Muenster 3
This was a LSG Game Of The Week. Lindsay was able to get the win after Muenster had won their last 4 meetings over the last 2 seasons in the "Kraut Bowl".
Alto 15, Frankston 7
Alto now leads this series 7-2 since 2000. Their were 25 penalties in this game.
Gilmer 43, Daingerfield 14
This LSG Game Of The Week was the 57th meeting between these two schools. This game was tied at 14 all at halftime. The series is now even at 15-15 since 1982 but Gilmer has won 2 of their 3 playoff games and has won 10 of the last 11 games including the last 8 in a row.
Brenham 24, Waller 14
The Cubs from Brenham held on in this defensive battle for the win. At one point Brenham drove inside the Waller 20 three times and only scored 3 points. Brenham now leads this series 13-6 since 1994.
