Daingerfield Advances To The 2A Championship

The Daingerfield Tigers blasted the  Blanco Panthers 43-7 Friday night at Texas Stadium in the Class 2A Division II Semifinals.

The Tigers turned early mistakes by Blanco into touchdowns to build a 14-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.   Blanco scored their only touchdown in the second quarter but Daingerfield would answer before the half, taking a 21-7 lead into the lockers.   

In the second half, Daingerfield  scored on their first three possessions and cruised to the victory.

Blanco came into the state semifinal giving up only 8.1 points a game and hadn't allowed more than 21 points in a single contest this season.

Tiger quarterback Tyler Boyd finished the game with four touchdowns, three of which were passes of at least 25 yards. Junior running back KoKo Smith added 172 rushing yards and a score .

Junior Layton Dworaczyk led Blanco with 98 rushing yards on 14 carries.

Daingerfield now has a 14-1 record on the year, their only loss coming to Gilmer, a 3A playoff contender that lost to Carthage last week.

The Tigers will now face the winner of the Cisco - Pottsboro matchup in the Class 2A, Division II championship game next week.
