* 5A Copperas Cove was the Runner-UP for the past two seasons when they played for Class 4A championship games.

* The 28-game victory streak by Austin Lake Travis is sixth best in 4A history just behind Denison (29), 1984-85.

* Lake Travis has outscored their opponents since Week 3 534-122

* Liberty Hill's 38-game winning streak (15 straight playoff games) is the sixth longest in UIL history and the all-time leading mark in 3A.

* If Liberty Hill wins the Class 3A state championship for the third straight year then their seniors would finish high school with 40 straight victories.

* Katy and Smithson Valley will clash for the third time in six years in a 5A-II semifinal showdown. Smithson Valley edged the Tigers 24-20 in 2002 and Katy squeezed out a 17-14 decision over the Rangers in 2005. Both schools lost in their state championship games though.

* Smithson Valley has made it to at least the Quarterfinals 7 of the last 10 years

* Katy is winning its playoff games this year by an average of 51.2 ppg, about three points higher than last year's per-game average through four rounds.

* Katy's district loss this year to Cinco Ranch was the first since 14-13 loss to Alief Hastings in 2002.

* Katy lost 3 games in a season for the first time since 2002 when they went 11-4.

* Katy had lost only a combined total of 5 games since 2003 (5 years)

* 3A Celina lost 3 games in a season for the first time since 1997 when they went 11-3.

* Katy had lost only a combined total of 7 games since 1998 (10 years)

* Celina lost their only championship game in 2006 to Liberty Hill (this weeks opponent) 22-19 n the 3A-II final

* 5A Wylie, coming off of a 5-6 record last year, has scored at least 31 points in every playoff game this year.

* 2A Blanco has outscored teams 632-113 and posted five shutouts this season. Blanco's record in the past three seasons is 35-4.

* 5A Round Rock Stony Point have given up a total of 34 points in four playoff victories.

* 3A Giddings new starting Quarterback, Trey Masek is 5-0 since he took over

* Before its 31-28 win over Gilmer, 3A Carthage outscored its previous three playoff opponents 166-62.

* 4A Longview advanced against Waco Midway last week winning 43-42 on a two-point conversion run in overtime. Quarterback Aaron Johnson reached the ball across the line at the last possible moment before he was tackled. Even in the slow motion replays it is too close to tell whether he made it or not.

* Before last year, the last time a Panhandle won a championship above the 1A level was when Dumas won the 3A title, 6-0 over Nederland in 1961.

* Muleshoe could be the Panhandles 2nd consecutive 2A team to win the state titles. Canadian won last year in 2A.

* There's also the chance that two Panhandle 1A teams -- Stratford (Division II) and Canadian (DI) can win 1A titles.

* Muleshoe, which plays for the 2A Division I state championship Saturday night, got there by defeating two unbeaten teams in the first two rounds, a one-loss team in the third round and another unbeaten team last week. They’ll have to knock off another unbeaten, Kirbyville, for the title. The combined record of their playoff opponents? 56-2.

* Muleshoe senior QB Wes Wood has passed for 61 TDs so far this year to became just the third player in state history (and second this year, joining Denton Ryan's Scotty Young, who threw 65) to reach the 60-touchdown mark. Graham Harrell holds the state record of 67, set in 2003.

* 2A Kirbyville scored 61 points last weekend against then-unbeaten Rice Consolidated, a team that had given up 20 or more points just twice previously

* 2A Pottsboro's is making its first trip to a state semifinal. Coach Matt Poe took over this team 3 years ago after the team had gone 0-20 the two years prior to his arrival.

* 2A Daingerfield allows just more than 150 yards per game. Four teams have failed to score against them, while eight more scored fewer than 20 points.

* 1A Albany has scored 42 or more points 10 times this season. Three times they have scored at least 70

* 13-4A (Longview, Sulphur Springs), 8-5A (Allen, Wylie), 9-3A (Celina, Prosper) and 1-1A (Canadian, Stratford) still have 2 representatives playing.

* No district has won both DI and DII Championships since 1995 when Converse Judson (DI) and San Antonio Roosevelt (DII) did it.

* No 5A-DI team (Allen, Round Rock Stony Point, Fort Bend Hightower or San Antonio Clark) has ever played for a Championship

* The 5A-DI teams have a combined 51-3 record this year

* Fort Bend Hightower is the only undefeated 5A team left

* The 4A DI matchup has two teams (Longview & Denton Guyer) that won very close ones last week to advance. Longview made a 2 pt conversion in OT while Guyer hit a FG as time expired for their wins
