Finishing the season ranked #23 nationally by USA Today, the Saints return 16 starters from that squad led by All-American senior quarterback Kiehl Frazier. The second interstate tilt pits a Dallas Skyline team that finished the 2009 season 12-1, against national powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas from Fort Lauderdale, FL. With the loss of many talented seniors from last year, Coach Reginald Samples will be calling upon top senior linebacker Anthony Wallace, and a mixture of talented youngsters on offense to lead the 2010 campaign. Ranked #1 in the nation for majority of 2009, Head Coach George Smith’s Raiders were upset in the Florida state semi-finals and finished 13-1. The Raiders will also be looking to retool after losing 13 Football Bowl Subdivision signees from the 2009 squad.

The other two match-ups are intrastate Texas games that take four of the top teams from 2009. Cedar Hill will face off against Denton Guyer in a offensive laden match. Coach Joey McGuire’s Longhorns will be making their second appearance the Series after a dominating victory over Lasalle(OH) in 2008. The Longhorns will have a tough test against Denton Guyer. The 4A state semi-finalists will again have a high powered offense led by Senior quarterback J.W. Walsh, the son of head coach John Walsh. This will be Denton Guyer’s first year in 5A.

The finale of the Varsity Football Series will include the city of Arlington’s own, Bowie Volunteers to face off against the DeSoto Eagles.
