Hamshire-Fannett has hired Don Price to be their next head coach and athletic director. Price will replace Walt Mangan who will leave after going 0-10 in 2009.
Managan had an overall 8-21 record during his three years with the Longhorns and has a 14-35 all-time record.
Price comes over from Barbers Hill where he has been the head coach for the past twelve seasons. He had a 99-35 during his 12 years and had five 10-0 regular season records during his time there. His teams won six district championships and made the playoffs 9 of his 12 years. Coach Price was an assistant coach at Troup, Hawkins and Joshua and was head coach at Maypearl for 2 years before coming to Barbers Hill in 1992. He was the defensive coordinator from 1992-1993 beforing taking over as head coach. His overall record as high school head coach is 105-48-1.
The Longhorns will be a member of District 21-3A along with Bridge City, Orangefield, Silsbee, Hardin-Jefferson and West Orange-Stark. They have been absent from the playoffs for the past five seasons and finished the 2009 campaign 0-10. The winless season in 2009 was the Longhorns worst record in the schools 49 year history.
