Bomar Comes Out Of A Short Retirement

2011 Coaching Change -- Orange Grove Bulldogs

Old Head Coach: John Hall -- Let go after leading the Bulldogs for 2 seasons going 5-15.

New Head Coach: Jerry Bomar -- Comes over from 2A Callisburg after he announce his retirement from there shortly after the season was over. He led the Wildcats at Callisburg to a 41-38-0 record during his seven seasons there. Before he arrived there, the Wildcats had just finished the 2003 season at 0-10 and they had never won a playoff game. During his time there, they won 6 playoff games including a trip to the Class 2A state semifinals in 2009. His other coaching jobs have been at Atlanta 1982-1985 (21-19), Groesbeck 1989-1991 (28-8), Killeen 1992-1995 (30-14) and Grand Prarie 1996-2003 (39-41). He has an overall coaching record of 165-120-0. The 165 wins puts him at #171 on the all-time coaching wins list. Every job except for Killen, he took over a struggling program and built it up. His 1991 Groesbeck team won the Class 3A state championship. Coach Bomars son is Rhett Bomar, who is a backup quarterback with the Minnesota Vikings and played his college ball at Sam Houston State.

Team News: The Bulldogs have not been to the playoffs since 2006. They finished 1-9 last season and have gone 16-24 over the last 4 seasons
