Coach: Wayne Hutchinson (6 years) 47-23 record at Stamford; 47-23 All-Time Coaching Record

Coach Hutchinson was our 2011 Class 1A Coach Of The Year

Coaches Comments: If we can stay healthy we expect to make another run in the state playoffs. We have a great nucleus back from last year that came up short in the state final game. With team speed and depth makes for an exciting year. Preseason is going to be very tough. All the teams we will play in preseason made the playoffs last year and two of them played in the state championship. Should be a huge challenge. Our district should be very tough with two 2A teams (Anson and Forsan) dropping into our district. I expect it to be a battle with Winters and Haskell also.

Returning Lettermen: 26

Returning Starters: Offense: 8 Defense: 8

Key Players:
* Hagen Hutchinson - expected to be a run/pass threat on offense. On defense expected to anchor the defense at free safety Coming off shoulder surgery but should be a major factor in the bulldogs 2nd Team All-State QB (TSWA), HM All-State DB (TSWA) & DIST OFF MVP 186-299 3,400 yards 36 TDs passing 1,470 yards rushing TOP 30 QB
* James Washington JR - returning WR. had 600 yds. rec. last year and is expected to be a deep threat 1st Team All-District
* Dalton Mathis - great hands at WR. had 638 yds. rec. last year..also DB 1st Team All-District WR
* Roy Alaniz - OL great pass protector and should contribute on the DL 3rd Team All-State (TSWA) OL
* Jessie Sanchez - OL/DL great blocker and should anchor our DL
* Ty McLemore - LB should be a great run stopper for us. 83 tackles
* Austin Alvarado - RB rushed for 900 yds. and plays OLB. 1st Team All-District LB
* Daniel Medina - LB leading tackler 144 tackles
* Mario Gonzales - LB 2nd leading tackler 1st Team All-District
* WR Bo Wimberly
* WR Noe Contreas
* OL/LB Nick Stanley 1st Team All-District OL & LB
* LB Rudy Sanchez
* DL Keont Smith 1st Team All-District

Notes:
* The Bulldogs made it to the championship game last year for the first time since 1959
* They made the playoffs as the #3 team in the district but avenged district losses to Albany and Seymour in the playoffs
* Have gone 23-5 over the last 2 seasons

  • Mike Says: The Bulldogs bring back one of Class 1A's best players in Hagen Hutchinson. He finished last year with 4,870 total yards and 66 total TDs. Their defense will also be tops in 1A. Will all that, they should make another run at the championship. Expect them to go 9-1 or 10-0 in the regular season. Windthorst will be a challenge in the Quarterfinals. Goldthwaite or Lindsay in the Semifinals. I am sure coach Hutchinson would welcome a rematch with Mason in the championship game.
  • Chris Says: Stamford should be solid again this year.  The district will be tough, but bringing back 26 letterman - among them, the very talented - Hagen Hutchinson, will go a long way toward returning them to another strong postseason showing.  The district won't be a cakewalk, but if they play like they are capable, the Bulldogs should win it.
