Allen Has Now Beaten Four Ranked Teams by a Combined 114 Points
Duncanville. DeSoto. Southlake Carroll. Prosper. Four straight weeks, four ranked opponents, and the scoreboard reads Allen 183, everybody else 69.
Thursday night in Prosper the Eagles fell behind in the second quarter, then scored 42 unanswered points and won 51-21.
The two games that mattered most
Allen 51, Prosper 21. Ty Snell threw for 267 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore. Josyah Johnson caught two in the first half and took a 70-yard double move to the end zone in the second. Prosper did not roll over: Tyler Albert went 4-for-4 on a scoring drive and ran it in himself, and Prosper had a fourth-and-1 inside the Allen 30 late in the half that could have changed the night. Allen stopped it, then scored the next six touchdowns. The Eagles have now played the teams ranked No. 5, 7, 8 and 11 in Texas and won by an average of 28.5 points.
North Crowley 47, Duncanville 30. That is the Panthers' fourth straight win over a program with a state title, after Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek. DeMarcus Harris is 4-0 in his first four games as a head coach and every one came against somebody with a real reason to think they could beat him.
Duncanville is 1-3. That record is going to fool people. Reginald Samples has won more than 300 games and three state titles, and the three losses came to Allen, DeSoto and North Crowley, a stretch nobody else in Texas volunteered for. But the Panthers now have to run the rest of District 11-6A to protect a playoff seed, and that starts at Red Oak on Friday.
Put this on the calendar: North Crowley at Waxahachie, October 9. That one probably decides the district.
DFW
Waxahachie is 4-0 after a 63-27 win over Mansfield Lake Ridge and is still the team nobody brings up first. I don't know what else the Indians are supposed to do.
DeSoto opened District 8-5A Division I with a 29-3 win over Burleson Centennial. That is two straight since the 0-2 start, with a running back playing quarterback and a defense that has allowed 23 points in two games. Claude Mathis saved that season in about ten days.
Lovejoy had the finish of the week. Down 28-24 with 43 seconds left after a 16-play, 88-yard All Saints drive, Nixon Slaughter threw it up, the ball got tipped, and Coleman Reaugh came down with it 35 yards out. Lovejoy 30, Fort Worth All Saints 28, and the Leopards are 4-0.
Elsewhere: Aledo 69, Granbury 0. South Oak Cliff 55, Hillcrest 0. Coppell 42, Berkner 14. Sachse 44, Wylie 42. Prosper Walnut Grove 63, McKinney 35, which matters because Walnut Grove is 4-0 and is Allen's regular-season finale on November 5. Argyle 70, Amarillo Highland Park 37. Celina 46, Richland 15. Cedar Hill 38, Midlothian 28. Dallas Life Oak Cliff 56, Madison 18, a week after the Bears put 105 on Bonham.
Houston
North Shore needed a night where it simply overwhelmed somebody after three straight competitive games. It got one: 58-0 over Crosby. The defending 6A Division I champion is 4-0 and has not let an opponent get comfortable yet.
Katy handled Jordan 56-10. Dickinson shut out Clear Lake 72-0. Shadow Creek did the same to Brazoswood, 61-0. Friendswood put up 80 on Fort Bend Dulles.
Closest finish in the region was Clear Springs 23, Clear Creek 21. Also: Atascocita 43, Humble 7. Pearland 48, Dawson 14. Klein Collins 42, Magnolia 35. Needville 28, Lamar Consolidated 19.
East Texas
Longview kept rolling with a 49-13 win over North Forney and is 4-0.
Gilmer 48, Sulphur Springs 38 was the shootout of the region, which is on brand for the Buckeyes. Texarkana Pleasant Grove is 4-0 after beating Paris 41-14 and is another team flying under the radar. Lufkin beat Baytown Sterling 35-14.
The rough one for the Golden Triangle: Brenham 45, Port Neches-Groves 14. PN-G is 2-2 and this was not close.
Also: Kilgore 40, Bullard 6. Marshall 38, Nacogdoches 7. Whitehouse 55, Mount Pleasant 28. Lindale 66, Chapel Hill 34. Henderson 54, Palestine 35. Atlanta 42, Daingerfield 25.
Gulf Coast
Industrial 49, Palacios 0. The Cobras got their first win. If you read what I wrote about the Lavaca River Showdown, you already knew that 0-3 record was never an honest description of that football team. Now it's 1-3 and the record is catching up to the film.
Cuero 28, Calhoun 27. One point. That is the kind of loss that sits with a locker room all week.
Calallen 45, Sinton 31. The Wildcats answered the Gregory-Portland loss, which is what you want to see the week after a program takes one on the chin.
Two one-point games down in the Valley: Miller 29, Harlingen 28 and Brownsville Veterans Memorial 21, Hanna 20. San Diego edged Orange Grove 29-28.

Central Texas
Round Rock 41, Vandegrift 38 was the best game in the region and maybe the best game in Austin so far this season.
Boerne stayed unbeaten at 4-0 with a 42-21 win over Somerset. Smithson Valley put 79 on Manor. In San Antonio, Judson beat Clemens 51-41, Steele handled Wagner 56-19, and Harlan shut down Warren 41-7.
Lake Belton 54, Ellison 52 and Marlin 26, Crawford 25 were the two that came down to the last possession.

West Texas
Midland Greenwood 43, Midland Legacy 42. One point, and Greenwood keeps finding ways.
Odessa Permian beat Pebble Hills 38-24 and is rolling. Midland Lee took down Liberty Hill 28-21. San Angelo Central handled Montwood 42-7.
In El Paso: Eastwood 64, Americas 13 and Hanks 79, Ysleta 41.
Also: Sweetwater 44, Levelland 0. Ballinger 40, Brady 35. Wall 51, Ozona 6.
North Texas
Canadian dropped another close one, 35-28 to Canyon Randall. That is a program used to being on the other side of those.
Childress 46, Holliday 45 was a one-point classic. Shallowater is 4-0 after beating Monahans 35-21 and still nobody outside the Panhandle is talking about them.
Snyder 8, Andrews 3 is the kind of score you don't see much anymore. And Amarillo Highland Park had a long night in Denton County, losing 70-37 at Argyle.

Circle these for Week 5
Duncanville at Red Oak, Friday. A 1-3 Duncanville team that cannot afford another district loss.
North Crowley vs. Crowley, Friday. A district game the Panthers should win, which is its own kind of test after four emotional weeks.
Anything in District 11-6A. Between North Crowley, Duncanville and Waxahachie, this district is going to send somebody deep in December and eliminate somebody who deserved better.
Where this leaves us
Allen is the best team in Texas and it isn't especially close. North Crowley is the best story. Waxahachie is the team that's going to get somebody in December. North Shore is still the champion until it loses. And Duncanville, at 1-3, is the most dangerous three-loss team in America.
Four weeks in, that's the board.
